Safari Under Canvas

About This Holiday

This itinerary takes guests to witness the exciting seasonal migration of wildebeest and other wildlife between the Serengeti & Maasai Mara national parks, using private, mobile tented camps in the grand safari tradition, following the teeming herds as they move across the predator-infested landscape and through the monsoon-swollen rivers.

The (9) Day Tanzania safari under Canvas moves yearly around the Serengeti and Maasai Marai National Parks. Camping is in large Meru or Bedouin style tents taking guests back in time to a bygone era when comfort was part of the adventure out on the endless plains. Enjoy wonderful meals served under the African stars and a drink round the fire swapping stories with your safari guide.

The Safari under canvas in Tanzania or Kenya follows the great wildlife migration into the most remote and scenic corners of Serengeti and Maasai Mara National Park with excellent game viewing almost guaranteed. The itinerary can be adjusted to take in the wilder and less-travelled areas such as the Selous National Park for clients interested in adventuriing into this pristine southern part of Tanzania.

Routes are carefully planned according to the projected movements of the great wildlife migration, in order to bring guests within comfortable driving distance of the herds. However, the wildebeest masses move with the rains, which occur at a different time of each year in East Africa and it is not always possible to accurately predict or guarantee where animals will be. Our expert safari guides will always try to place guests in the midst of the thronging wildebeest and ensure an enhanced experience for guests.
