About This Holiday

The exciting 16 Day Great Camps of Southern Africa Safari takes you to a choice of three out of a possible five countries, depending on your choice.

Our example itinerary below showcases three very different destinations and covers some of the best experiences to be found in southern Africa: The wetlands of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, South Africa’s Kruger National Park and Cape winelands, and Zimbabwe’s tourism greats: the Hwange National Park and the famous Victoria Falls. The itinerary begins and ends in Johannesburg, South Africa where on arrival from your homeland flight (you may first need to overnight in Johannesburg depending on connections) you are met by a representative of AZS and board a regional flight to the mighty Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

This will be your last glimpse of ‘civilisation’ for a while, as after Victoria Falls, your charter flights carry you away to the wildest of African landscapes on a thrilling adventure safari.

In each country, you can experience the diversity of the local people’s culture and traditions to enrich your safari experience. In the wildlife reserves, game viewing is either in specially designed open safari vehicles, on foot or by traditional ‘mekoro’ canoe. All excursions are led by armed, qualified professional guides.

The Exclusivity Option

Prefer to be on youe own? This itinerary can be booked for from one to four individuals or a family, with a private guide and no other guests in the group. For this option, bookings must be made well in advance to secure exclusive use of game viewing vehicles and charter flights.

Private Safaris

Afrika Zambezi Safaris will only provide a private guide to accompany group bookings on special request. Tailor-made itineraries for 1-4 persons can be created on an exclusive basis, with a personal expert guide from Afrika Zambezi Safaris for the entire trip.

A visa is normally required to enter Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe and are obtainable upon arrival. The Zimbabwe single-entry Visa cost is currently US$55 per person for Europe, US and some other nationals – please check with the appropriate embassy before you travel.

Visas are payable in cash and we recommend you bring exact denominations for the amount.

Passports must be valid for least 6 months after date of travel and have at least 3 blank (no endorsements) pages.

A new Uni-Visa for the KAZA (Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area) countries is available at US$50 – obtainable on arrival and currently covering Zambia, Zimbabwe and a day-only entry into Botswana. Angola and Namibia will soon be joining the experimental tourist UniVisa scheme.
