School and village tours:
Meet local people, our community, our values. Based on more than 15 years of experience leading safaris in Africa and together with our belief in community development and eco-tourism, Afrika Zambezi Safaris has put together a small 5% contribution funding kit from the 50% deposit paid for safari itineraries by our clients. It is part of our philosophy to develop our safari itineraries close to the community as a way to help develop educational programs among others.
Some projects started by the school teachers and parents in the villages include school conservation projects, rural sustainable tourism and awareness of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. These programs are important for the village parents and young children, many of whom have high hopes to become future conservationist, tourism leaders or safari guides.
With our 5% contribution towards the community, Afrika Zambezi Safaris and its safari guides see this as an ongoing opportunity to take our clients on educational tours to schools/villages, while on Safari, and to learn something of the villagers’ lifestyles and traditions as well as interact with school children, communities and headmen and hear their fascinating stories.
As a renowned tour operator in Africa, Afrika Zambezi Safaris has arranged variety of optional trips into townships and rural villages where you can meet and interact with the local people, visit schools, perhaps learn to greet others in their own African local language as your guide teaches you along the way. For example, you can tour the famous apartheid museum in Johannesburg South Africa and venture into vibrant Soweto township, cultural melting pot and home to the anti-apartheid movement.
Visiting townships, rural villages and school tours will give you a better connection to Africa and her contrasting tribes, cultures and traditions. The tours will give you an understanding on how lifestyles and businesses are conducted in Africa. To enhance your experience with the locals and children during your visits we recommend that you bring small packs of pencils, crayons or watercolor pens to leave as presents for the young children.
In some remote primary schools in the rural areas we visit during your safari adventure, these will be extremely gratefully received. Villages and schools visits are coordinated and conducted during your Safari stay at camps/lodges/hotels. Below are recent pictures taken in Botswana, South Africa, Kenya, with clients on safari…
